very nice picture...but i dont get it.
funny when you and your manager think (or over think as it were) an image, so that you both have a clear and concise idea of what the image means. but i sometimes forget that not everyone in the artworld has time to stare and share over a piece. so says a creative editor from the toronto sun.." very nice picture... but i dont get it. "
birthday presents
One of the joys and downfalls of being an illustrator is the income cashflow gets delegated to trivial things like bread and coca cola, so when it comes for family's birthdays, a painting or two is what they get! Highlight was giving the mecca inspired mobile assault land crawler to my nephew and him replying: thanks uncle scott, now where is my present? to which i replied: "I brought pie!"
In other news, I am not really a Dr. Who fan, so when i posted the painting of david tennant for my super fan-regressing to teenage lust-for simon le bon.. sister, my friends pontificated on latest or classic episodes that they loved, to which i played along, saying yeah, i loved the one when he ran real fast and jumped alot... that one was good!

little smoke meets big smoke
After years of planning and wishing and hoping and procrastination, I have landed smack dab in the middle of the mix. Relatively painless move, although I do not recommend moving a two bedroom studio apartment bag by bag via go train. it took about 4 weeks to do. Now surrounded by the most interesting faces that a life drawing course could never offer, take that over-charging burlington art gallery! Studio now located deep within the mist of the downtown core... "way till they get a load of me.." - joker. the above is page one of my toronto sketchbook. the stars: my neighbors.

Brave Heart
My sensational gf has aquired tickets to one of my heros, Craig Ferguson, performing in the big smoke in april. As an homage to a real test of ones will and strength, I will present Mr. Ferg with this illustration. As of Scottish background too, Im sure he will enjoy this hanging in his water closet (or bathroom to non-scots). wish me luck. let the stalking commence.

Waiting
I have been waiting for so long, its a funny play on words. I have worked in so many restaurants, sports bars, family fun feedbags, and so on...the average waiter or waitress is stereotypically waiting for something, waiting for a "real job", waiting for school to end or begin, or waiting until they strike it rich with a scheme or invention of some kind. I like waiting, er, liked waiting. it afforded me the strange kind of zero-hour downtime, when everyone else would be getting up to catch the train, bus, cab or latte to their job, i would be getting home or sobering up, just in time to draw during the day. however, you draw what you know, in this case, the all important back alley smoke break to ponder the nights specials, tips and guests, check your phone to see what the other waiters are doing after work, or just tell your girlfriend, i have to close now, i should be done at never-o'clock.
